Authorities say 1-year-old dead after suffering ‘extreme neglect’ in Allen County, 2 charged

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – The Allen County Sheriff’s Office and Scottsville Police Department responded to a reported death on Cottage Drive Monday.
Authorities say a 1-year-old is dead.
Police arrested 22-year-old Alexandrae Price and 22-year-old Deavan Williams and charged both with first-degree criminal abuse (child 12 or under).
The child was allegedly subjected to extreme neglect and forced to live in dangerous living conditions, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing. Authorities say additional criminal charges are expected.
The Scottsville Police Department issued the following statement on Tuesday:
“We know our community deserves answers, and you will receive them as soon as they can be released without compromising this investigation. However, this remains a fluid and active investigation. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence, including surveillance video, additional witness interviews, and the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s report.”
The agency continued, stating, “This 1-year-old child deserves a thorough, accurate and complete investigation. We owe that to this child, the child’s family and our community. The evidence gathered during this investigation will speak for itself when it is presented through the judicial process. Child abuse and neglect have no place in Allen County and will not be tolerated. We remain committed to holding those responsible accountable.
