SOKY Fair returns with new attractions, rodeo and family fun

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The SOKY Fair is back, bringing carnival rides, live entertainment, food and family traditions to the fairgrounds for another week of summer fun.

Organizers say this year’s fair features several new attractions, including a record 22 rides from Miller Spectacular Shows and, for the first time, a rodeo scheduled for Saturday night.

“We’re really excited about the new events we’ve added,” said Korina Lee, president of the Bowling Green-Warren County Jaycees. “Miller Spectacular Shows brought in 22 attractions, which is a really high number for us. We’ve also added a rodeo on Saturday, and we’ve never had one before.”

In addition to the new attractions, fairgoers can enjoy the midway, carnival games, food vendors, livestock exhibits and fan-favorite events throughout the week.

“Everybody loves the Figure 8 races and the demolition derby on Friday,” Lee said. “Then Saturday wraps things up with the rodeo.”

Lee said months of planning go into organizing the annual fair, with volunteers, vendors, ride operators and community organizations working together to create an event families can enjoy year after year.

Beyond providing entertainment, the SOKY Fair also serves as one of the Jaycees’ largest annual fundraisers.

“It’s nice to have one event where everyone can find something they enjoy together,” Lee said. “When people support the fair, they’re also supporting the Jaycees, and that allows us to give back to the community.”

Lee said proceeds from the fair help fund community events and charitable programs throughout the year, including the Bowling Green Christmas Parade, Trunk or Treat events and Christmas assistance for local children.

Organizers encourage families to visit the fair throughout the week and experience the rides, entertainment and community spirit that have made the SOKY Fair a summer tradition in south-central Kentucky.
