Construction begins on Three Springs Road widening project in Warren County

Road Construction

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A project to widen KY 884 (Three Springs Road) from McCoy Place to Fieldstone Boulevard in Warren County is underway.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, utility companies have worked in the area for several months.

As construction begins, transportation officials are asking drivers to expect additional utility and road crews along this section of KY 884.

The project will widen KY 884 to three lanes, with one lane in each direction and a center turn lane, officials say. According to transportation officials, a single-lane roundabout will be made at the intersection of KY 884 and Smallhouse Road. In addition, officials say sidewalks will be constructed on both sides of the road, along with a new bridge over Interstate 65.

The project also provides a turn lane at the entrance to Foundation Christian Academy, according to officials.

“This area of the county has seen tremendous growth in recent years, and the growth has simply outpaced the current transportation infrastructure,” said Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 engineer Joe Plunk. “We are grateful to see this project break ground after years of planning and coordination. The community will benefit from improved safety, better traffic flow and upgraded transportation features, like the sidewalks.”

Drivers should expect traffic impacts on KY 884 and Interstate 165 throughout construction. Traffic impacts will be announced as the project progresses. The existing bridge will remain open until traffic is shifted to the new bridge.

Drivers are asked to be patient during the construction process.

Drivers are also encouraged to monitor KYTC District 3 social media channels and Goky.ky.gov for updates on traffic impacts throughout construction.

Construction is expected to be completed in fall 2027.
