Senior Expo Connects Bowling Green Residents with aging resources
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) – Seniors, caregivers and families gathered at the Sloan Convention Center on Wednesday for the Senior Lifestyle, Health and Home Expo, an event aimed at connecting older adults with local services that support healthy and independent living.
The free expo featured vendors offering information on senior living, home care, health care, insurance, transportation, end-of-life planning and other resources available throughout south central Kentucky. Attendees also received free health screenings and immunizations while enjoying food, prizes and giveaways.
Kayle Worley, community outreach coordinator with Freedom Senior Services, said the event helps people discover programs they may not realize are available.
“This is a good opportunity for senior citizens or people with disabilities to come out and understand the resources offered to them throughout their communities,” Worley said.
Wylie said many visitors learned about free or low-cost services that could benefit not only themselves but also loved ones who may need additional support.
“It’s very important for people to come out to the event so that they can see the things that they’re not aware of, the things that are offered within their communities that could assist them in their day-to-day lives,” Worley said. “These businesses throughout the building have the capability to assist if not someone that comes in here, then someone that they love and care about.”
Organizers say the annual expo provides a convenient one-stop location for seniors and caregivers to ask questions, compare services and build connections with local providers focused on improving quality of life.
