12-year-old latest death reported following crash in Boone County

Fatal Crash

FLORENCE, Ky. – A 12-year-old is reportedly the second death confirmed after a crash that occurred last week in Boone County, authorities say.

According to a social media release by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday evening, 12-year-old Camden Hunter died due to injuries sustained in a collision that occurred on July 6.

Authorities say the crash happened in front of 7405 Industrial Road in Florence, Kentucky. The sheriff’s office says one fatality and multiple injuries were reported at the time.

Deputies say a vehicle driven by 75-year-old Shirley Hadden of Cincinnati, Ohio was traveling northbound while leaving a parking lot at 7405 Industrial Road.

Hadden reportedly had two passengers, including 70-year-old Mary Williams of Cincinnati and Hunter, also of Cincinnati.

Authorities say another vehicle driven by 52-year-old Tia Wright of Erlanger was traveling eastbound on Industrial Road in the left lane in front of the scene.

According to deputies, witnesses state that Hadden began a left turn from the parking lot and attempted to cross both eastbound lanes to travel westbound when she pulled into the path of Wright’s vehicle, resulting in a collision.

Hadden was transported by Florence EMS to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, where she was pronounced dead.

Williams and Wright were transported to UC Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Hunter was transported by Florence EMS to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say speed and alcohol impairment are not believed to be factors but will be examined.

All of those involved in the crash were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, according to deputies.

No charges have been filed, according to the sheriff’s office.
