Woman charged with child endangerment, drug possession in Portland

PORTLAND, Tenn. – A woman is facing child endangerment and drug possession charges following a welfare check.
According to the Portland Police Department (PPD), officers responded to a welfare check and possible illegal drug activity at a home on July 11.
PPD says officers located a child living in unsafe conditions. During the investigation, officers also located suspected illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
The investigation resulted in the seizure of marijuana, a suspected fentanyl pill, suspected LSD, numerous used and unused syringes, drug packaging materials, scales, and other items commonly associated with narcotics use and distribution, according to PPD.
PPD says the child was removed from the home and the department is working with the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.
Candi Stafford was arrested and charged with child endangerment, possession (Schedule II), possession (Schedule III) and possession (Schedule VI). She was lodged at the Sumner County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
