Scammers “spoofing” Barren County Detention Center phone number, authorities say

GLASGOW, Ky. – The Glasgow Police Department (GPD) is warning the public of an ongoing scam.

According to a social media post from the department, scammers are calling victims and claiming that a family member or friend has been jailed. The scammers tell victims that they need to send money via gift cards or wire money.

GPD says the scammers are “spoofing” the Barren County Detention Center’s phone number.

Authorities say residents should not provide financial and personal information over the phone and should not send money.
