Edmonson County Schools mourning loss of Chief Financial Officer

BROWNSVILLE, Ky. – The Edmonson County School District is mourning the loss of a staff member.

Callie Whobrey Ashley, who served ECS as its Chief Financial Officer, died at 37 on Saturday.

ECS says Ashley was instrumental in projects across the district, including the Senate Bill 1 Construction Project and the Local Area Vocational Education Center (LAVEC) project.

Ashley was also active in the renovation of South Edmonson Elementary, the Kyrock Elementary replacement project and the turf project at the Football/Soccer field.

According to her obituary, Ashley graduated from Edmonson County High School in 2007.

Her obituary reads in part:

“Although her time on earth was far too brief, the legacy of love, faith, kindness, and compassion she leaves behind is immeasurable. She made this world brighter simply by being in it, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.”
