BARDSTOWN, Ky. – A house is damaged after reportedly being struck by lightning in Bardstown.

According to a social media post by the Bardstown Fire Department, around 5:35 a.m. on June 27, Bardstown firefighters and Nelson County Fire and Rescue were dispatched to 409 Marks Lane for a structure fire.

First responders say upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire coming from the home’s roof.

Crews say they confirmed everyone was out of the house and requested assistance from Northeast Nelson Fire Department.

According to firefighters, crews worked to bring the fire under control.

Firefighters say they were able to get two vehicles out of the garage before the roof collapsed.

The department says low water pressure from a fire hydrant affected firefighting efforts to keep the fire from spreading through an attic space. Water tanker operation was put in place to deploy more hand lines, first responders say.

Crews were on scene a total of six hours.

No injuries were reported, according to the department.

According to Bardstown Fire Department, the cause of the fire is believed to have been a lightning strike.
