PADUCAH, Ky. – A former McCracken County school resource officer is facing multiple misdemeanor offenses after an investigation into alleged misconduct.

According to the Kentucky State Police, troopers received a call from McCracken County High School reporting “inappropriate actions” by a former school resource officer, 58-year-old Darrin Frommeyer of Paducah, that had been reported to school administration by a student.

Authorities say during the investigation, the student stated Frommeyer accessed her cellphone without her permission and took “selfie” photos of himself on her phone two different times.

Troopers say it was also reported Frommeyer contacted the student multiple times using TikTok and interacted with her Instagram account.

Frommeyer was employed by the McCracken County School System as a school resource officer at the time of the reported incidents, authorities say.

According to troopers, Frommeyer communicated with the student outside of the designated traceable communication system at least three separate times, in violation of KRS 160.145. Due to him being a public servant, authorities say the reported violations resulted in the criminal offense of second-degree official misconduct.

Frommeyer has since resigned from his position with the McCracken County School System, according to the Kentucky State Police.

Frommeyer has been charged with three three counts of second-degree official misconduct and two counts of fourth-degree unlawful access to a computer.

The investigation remains ongoing.
