WARREN COUNTY, Ky. -Two distinguished Warren County veterans are being honored for their service and sacrifice.

On Thursday, officials say local residents gathered at the Warren County Courthouse Veterans Memorial to show their appreciation.

Among those recognized were Russell Justice, chief of the Hadley Fire Department. According to the Warren County Fire Department System, Justice served during the Vietnam War, earning the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, a Purple Heart and several other military decorations.

The department says Justice was wounded in combat. Following his military career, officials say Justice continued service to others through leadership to the community of Warren County and fire service.

“His courage and dedication exemplify the highest ideals of military service,” the department stated.

The ceremony was attended by family members and friends, including loved ones who traveled from Ohio, to celebrate the occasion.
