Two 15-year-olds charged with burglary in Laurel County

LONDON, Ky. – Two teens are charged in an alleged burglary case in Laurel County, authorities say.

According to Sheriff John Root with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, two 15-year-old boys were taken into custody Monday evening following an investigation into a burglary at a business off of East Laurel Road on May 15.

Root says surveillance video captured two male subjects shattering a glass door to enter the business.

Authorities say both male subjects’ pictures were posted to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page for identification. Due to specific clothing the suspects wore, the sheriff’s office says it developed two possible suspects.

As a result, authorities say they learned the two teens were allegedly the two subjects that broke into the business earlier last month.

The teens were determined to have also stolen items from the business, according to authorities.

Both individuals were taken into custody, however, authorities say while being transferred from a police cruiser to the sheriff’s office, the teens ran to a wooded area nearby.

Authorities say about 30 minutes later, the two teens were seen exiting the woods and were detained.

Both teens were charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot) and first-degree criminal mischief.

The sheriff’s office states no identities or photographs will be released due to the teens being underage.
