SKYCTC to host ArtWorks Inc. Members Only Exhibition at college’s new gallery

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College is showcasing the creative work of ArtWorks Inc. during a summer exhibition from June 8 through July 23.
The college says the exhibition will be held at the SKYCTC Art Gallery inside of the New Robert & Mary Tincher Campus and Community Center on the main campus at 1845 Loop Drive in Bowling Green.
Organizers say the exhibition will feature a variety of artwork from regional artists. ArtWorks Inc. is a nonprofit “dedicated to supporting and growing the visual arts community throughout the region,” SKYCTC says.
The community is invited to experience this upcoming event.
Gallery hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
An opening reception will take place Monday, June 8, from 5–6 p.m., with awards presented at 6 p.m.
Melissa Vanenburg, Professor of Art at Eastern Kentucky University, will serve as judge for the ArtWorks Inc. Summer Exhibition. During the reception, awards will be presented for Best of Show, First, Second, and Third Place, as well as Merit Awards, the Myra Dwyer Award and Best Newbie or Amateur.
“We are thrilled to open this new gallery as a cultural resource for both our campus and the surrounding community,” said Leslie Nichols, gallery director. “The summer show highlights the creativity of artists in the community, and we are proud to celebrate and share their vision and talents with the public.”
“This exhibition is a celebration of the incredible creativity within our membership and a chance to share our work with the broader Southcentral Kentucky community,” said Paul Johnson, ArtWorks Inc. President. “We encourage all members to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to showcase their artwork in one of the region’s newest and most exciting exhibition venues.”
Faculty, staff, students and community members are encouraged to visit the gallery and experience the artwork on display throughout the summer.
