19-year-old dies after crash in Powell County

STANTON, Ky. – A 19-year-old is dead following a crash in Powell County on Tuesday.

According to the Kentucky State Police, around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, troopers were requested to assist at the scene of a fatal single-vehicle collision.

Troopers say they learned through a preliminary investigation that 19-year-old Luke J. Pierce of Mount Sterling was traveling northbound along Morris Creek Road when he lost control of his vehicle, leaving the road and traveling over an embankment.

Authorities say the vehicle then struck a tree.

Pierce was pronounced dead at the scene by the Powell County coroner.

KSP was additionally assisted on scene by the Powell County Sheriff’s Office and Powell County Fire and EMS. The collision remains under investigation.
