1 dead after reported shooting in Hopkinsville

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – The Hopkinsville Police Department is investigating a reported shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say the incident took place along the 1200 block of Walnut Street at 12:20 p.m. According to police, one male subject had been shot in the chest.

Hopkinsville Fire/EMS personnel arrived on scene shortly after officers and began emergency medical care, authorities say. The male subject was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment.

Despite lifesaving efforts by emergency personnel and hospital staff, the victim died due to his injuries. He was identified as 19-year-old Jordan Jones of Hopkinsville.

According to police, there is no active threat to public safety.
