Michael Davis named new assistant superintendent for Barren County Schools

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Michael Davis has been named assistant superintendent for the Barren County School District.

According to the district, Davis has served in education and administrative positions with Barren County Schools since 2006.

These include roles as a teacher at Eastern Elementary, assistant principal at Barren County Middle School, principal at Red Cross Elementary, principal at Barren County Middle School, and director of elementary instruction.

Davis graduated from Barren County High School in 2001 and earned his bachelor of science degree in exceptional education from Western Kentucky University in 2006. In 2012, he earned a master’s degree in school administration, also from Western Kentucky University. He later completed his rank I supervisor of instruction and superintendent certification through University of the Cumberlands.

Superintendent Amy Irwin said, “Michael cares deeply about this district and the people who make it special. He’s someone who builds strong relationships and always keeps students at the center of his work. We are excited to continue building on the great things happening across Barren County Schools with Michael serving in this role.”

Davis said, “I am incredibly grateful and honored for the opportunity to serve as Assistant Superintendent for Barren County Schools. Serving this district is something I value greatly. I look forward to working alongside our schools, families, and community as we continue striving for excellence. Superintendent Amy Irwin has a strong vision for our district, and her leadership continues to move Barren County Schools forward in meaningful ways. I am excited to support that work as we help all students become life-ready.”

Davis will begin serving as assistant superintendent this summer.
