GLASGOW, Ky. — Barren County Schools has named Nathan Peters as the district’s new director of transportation.

According to the district, Peters served with Glasgow Independent Schools since 2018 as assistant principal at Glasgow Middle School and South Green Elementary.

Before this, the district says he spent 13 years with the school system as a physical education teacher at Temple Hill Elementary and Trojan Academy.

“We are excited to welcome Nathan back to Barren County Schools,” said Superintendent Amy Irwin. “He is a respected educator and leader who understands the importance of student safety, strong relationships, and teamwork. We are confident he will do an outstanding job leading our transportation department.”

Peters said he is honored to return to Barren County Schools and looks forward to serving students and families in a new way.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to come back to Barren County Schools,” Peters said. “This district has always meant a great deal to me. I look forward to supporting our drivers, staff, students, and families and continuing the strong tradition of care and service that our transportation department is known for.”

Peters holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physical education from Western Kentucky University and completed post-graduate work in instructional leadership at the University of the Cumberlands.

He will begin his new role with Barren County Schools this summer.
