Lewisburg man charged with unlawful imprisonment, attempted assault

LEWISBURG, Ky. – A Lewisburg man is charged with multiple offenses, including unlawful imprisonment and attempted assault.

According to a uniform citation, on Sunday, the Logan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a residence in Lewisburg for a report of a male subject with a knife threatening other individuals.

Authorities say upon arrival, they located a male, identified as 25-year-old Jacob McGonigal of Lewisburg, along with two other subjects.

After separating the other subjects away from McGonigal, deputies say they observed an open knife lying next to McGonigal.

McGonigal was detained.

Authorities say a male and a female on scene stated that during an altercation at the home, McGonigal had pulled out a knife and put it to the male’s throat and “threatened him.”

According to authorities, one female subject stated she had been attempting to leave when the altercation began in another room. She further stated McGonigal eventually entered the room she was in and began waving the knife around and throwing objects.

At the time of the altercation, authorities say it was reported two young children were in the home.

In addition, deputies say multiple people on scene stated McGonigal had punched and shattered the windshield of a vehicle belonging to a female subject on scene.

McGonigal was arrested and transported to the Logan County Detention Center.

He is charged with second-degree assault – domestic violence (attempt), first-degree unlawful imprisonment, first-degree criminal mischief – residential rental property, second-degree disorderly conduct, second-degree criminal mischief and third-degree terroristic threatening.
