Barren County High School receives national recognition from Project Lead The Way

GLASGOW, Ky. – Barren County High School has been recognized as a 2025-26 Project Lead The Way Distinguished School.

According to the district, BCHS is among a select group of high schools across the United States to receive this honor for its commitment to increasing student access, engagement and achievement in career-connected learning.

Through its PLTW Biomedical Sciences and Engineering programs, BCHS says it is helping students “develop skills needed to succeed in an evolving future.”

“These recognitions reflect the incredible work happening in our classrooms every day,” said Robert Bauer, Barren County Schools District Project Lead The Way Coordinator. “Our students are being challenged to think critically, solve real-world problems, and explore meaningful career pathways through hands-on learning experiences. We are proud of the teachers and students who have helped make these programs so successful.”

PLTW is a national nonprofit organization that creates transformative learning experiences and empowers students to develop in-demand knowledge and skills for future careers.

The PLTW Distinguished School recognition honors schools committed to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their PLTW programs. To be eligible for the designation, BCHS had to meet multiple criteria, including the number of PLTW courses available to students, the percentage of students enrolled in PLTW courses, and the percentage of students taking more than one PLTW course.
