Road Safety for Kentucky drivers expands with CVSA Roadchecks

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police says it plans to enhance road safety with the accommodations of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.
According to the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, International Roadchecks bring together inspectors from the United States, Canada and Mexico for a concentrated effort to improve compliance with federal safety regulations.
According to the CVSA, nearly 15 commercial vehicle inspections take place every minute within a 72-hour period, concluding with 1.8 million inspections since 1988.
“Efforts like International Roadcheck allow us to take a focused, proactive approach to identifying safety concerns before they lead to serious incidents,” Officer Michael Smith, West Commercial Vehicle Enforcement spokesperson, said.
The CVSA accumulated 56,178 inspections in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
KSP hopes to regulate routine commercial vehicle inspections, running international Roadchecks through May 11-12.
