68 Barren County Schools students recognized at state STLP competition

GLASGOW, Ky. – Barren County Schools students were recognized at the state Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) competition.

68 students participated in the 2026 STLP held at Rupp Arena and the Central Bank Center in Lexington on April 24 through 26.

Austin Tracy Elementary finished 2nd in the STLP26 Sphero Hero Challenge Champions division. The challenge focuses on coding and robotics skills. Team members include Margo Celsor, Lilah Gruber, and Presley Rowe.

Two Temple Hill Elementary School student projects placed just outside the top 20. “Bulldogs Lost Treasures” with group members Aspen Martin, Raegan Herron, Gunner Drury, and Lily Frazier and “STLP Bulldog Cart” with group members Remy Schultz, Rodrigo Carrasco, Destiny Kinsolving-McDonald, Natalie Kinslow, and Greyson Taylor.

Barren County High School placed 2nd in the Web Coding Challenge. Alex Taylor and Ross Reed led the team.

Two BCHS students earned industry certifications at the event.

“We are incredibly proud of our students for the way they represented Barren County Schools,” said Kris Aquino, District Technology Coordinator. “STLP gives students the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in meaningful ways, and our students continue to rise to the challenge. Their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills were on full display.”
