2 rescued by KSP troopers on Cave Run Lake

MOREHEAD, Ky. –Two people are safe after the Kentucky State Police responded to Cave Run Lake on Monday.
According to KSP, troopers were notified around 5 p.m. regarding an overturned jet ski on Cave Run Lake near Stoney Cove Boat ramp.
Upon arrival, Trooper Christian Saylor and Sgt. Sam Lawson saw the overturned jet ski with two individuals in the water, according to authorities.
Troopers say Saylor and Lawson quickly assessed the situation, borrowing a boat from a nearby marina to reach the stranded individuals.
Authorities say they were able to safely remove them from the water before transporting them back to shore, where Bath County EMS was on site to provide care.
Troopers say both individuals were “extremely cold due to the water temperature.”
The agency states that the troopers’ “resourcefulness, quick thinking and dedication to public safety helped prevent what could have ended in a tragedy.”
KSP says it would like to remind the public to always wear properly fitted life jackets and to be sure watercrafts are operated safely.
KSP was also assisted on scene by Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife and Salt Lick Fire Department.
