Student reportedly brings unloaded BB gun to Logan County High School

LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – Logan County Schools has released a statement after the district says a student brought an unloaded BB gun in their backpack.
On Monday afternoon, Dan Costellow, superintendent of Logan County Schools, says the incident was “handled quickly by administration and law enforcement, and all students are safe.”
The following statement was shared by Caycee Spears, Logan County High School principal:
“LCHS Families,”
“I am writing to inform you concerning an incident that was reported to administrators this afternoon concerning a potential weapon on school property. We received information from a student that a classmate had a BB-gun in their backpack.
“School administrators immediately investigated the situation and were able to determine that the student did have a BB-gun in their possession. It was not loaded. The matter was addressed with the student’s parents, local law enforcement, and district-level administrators. We are proud of those involved for their professionalism in handling today’s events.”
