Bowling Green unveils new visitors center, launches updated tourism brand

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) — Community leaders gathered Thursday to celebrate the grand opening of a new home for the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, marking a major investment in tourism and economic development for the region.

The new facility is designed to serve as a central hub for visitors, offering a welcoming space that highlights the city’s attractions, culture and continued growth. Local officials say the center represents more than just a building, it’s a gateway to the community and a tool to strengthen Bowling Green’s identity as a travel destination.

Sherry Murphy said the project builds on decades of work promoting the region and reflects the area’s continued progress.

“This building marks the milestone… our building reflects our area’s progress as we continue to welcome visitors,” Murphy said.

The ribbon cutting also coincided with the launch of a new branding effort for the CVB, aimed at better showcasing what makes Bowling Green unique and appealing to travelers.

“We are doing our brand launch today… we are very, very excited about the new brand that you’ll be seeing… building our brand so everybody can see it,” Murphy said.

Local leaders emphasized the importance of tourism to the area’s economy, noting the steady flow of travelers passing through south-central Kentucky each year.

Doug Gorman said the region sees millions of visitors annually, many of whom are stopping in Bowling Green for the first time.

“Many of them will stop in Bowling Green, and many of them will stop for the first time ever,” Gorman said. “And it’s up to each and every one of us to make sure they’re welcomed the right way.”

Officials say tourism generates hundreds of millions of dollars annually for the local economy and supports thousands of jobs across Warren County. The new visitors center is expected to enhance that impact by improving how the city connects with travelers and promotes local experiences.

Murphy also credited the broader community—including local businesses, attractions, and hospitality workers, for helping make Bowling Green a destination.

“It takes all of us to welcome visitors,” she said.

Leaders say the new facility and updated branding will help position Bowling Green for continued growth, while offering visitors a stronger first impression of the city and everything it has to offer.
