GREENVILLE, Ky. (WNKY) — A Hopkins County School teacher has been suspended following an off-campus arrest. That’s according to a statement released by school district officials.

A uniform citation states on April 22, Greenville Police was contacted by local parks and rec staff about an incident that occurred the day before. Park staff reported they had received complaints about a man abusing a child and identified the man as 41-year-old Matthew McIntosh.

Authorities, along with park staff, reviewed camera footage, which showed McIntosh spanking a minor, then slamming the minor down on a bleacher and spanking them again. A few minutes later, McIntosh was seen on camera spanking the minor aggressively and striking her back, according to the uniform citation.

McIntosh was arrested and booked into the Muhlenberg County Detention Center on April 22. He has since been released, according to the Muhlenberg County Detention Center website.

According to a statement from Hopkins County School District, McIntosh has been suspended pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation to determine whether he will return to active service or face disciplinary action.

McIntosh is charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence). Arraignment is set for May 6 in Muhlenberg County District Court.
