Bowling Green man charged after allegedly ‘doing donuts’ in Wawa parking lot

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing multiple charges after allegedly almost hitting several people in a Wawa parking lot.
According to a uniform citation, around 8:02 p.m. on Thursday, the Bowling Green Police Department responded to a reported injury collision near Wawa at 800 Gunnison Trail.
Authorities say a caller stated a vehicle “drove over a curb” before entering the parking lot, doing donuts and hitting a small tree.
Police say the driver, 55-year-old Christopher Bivens of Bowling Green, apologized and stated he was intoxicated.
Authorities say the vehicle had stopped in a ditch in front of Skyrise School across from Wawa.
According to officers, Bivens declined sobriety testing and was transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for a blood draw.
Authorities say a witness later reported several people had to “jump out of the way” of the vehicle in the parking lot to avoid being hit.
Police say one witness stated they thought the driver was experiencing a medical emergency and tried to approach the vehicle. According to officers, the witness said the vehicle accelerated toward them, causing them to jump away.
Bivens was transported to the Warren County Regional Jail.
He faces charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and second-degree criminal mischief.
