DSSKY hosts seventh annual Pre-Derby Gala

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Down Syndrome of South Central Kentucky hosted its seventh annual Pre-Derby Gala on Friday night.

The Kentucky Derby-themed fundraiser raises money for the Buddy House.

The event began with a cocktail hour and dinner before transitioning into games and an auction featuring sports memorabilia, artwork created by Buddy House participants and other items.

Organizers say events like this help showcase the positive impact of the Buddy House.

“We want people to see what a great cause the Buddy House serves in southern Kentucky, which includes 14 counties and 206 families,” said DSSKY Executive Director Stephanie Morton.

“There are so many more families we can reach, and we hope people here tonight take that with them,” she added.

Proceeds from the event will support Buddy House programs, including speech services, adult life skills classes and other resources for individuals with Down syndrome of all ages.
