BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – For the sixth consecutive year, Bowling Green Independent Schools says it has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education Award from The NAMM Foundation.

According to the district, this prestigious designation recognizes the district’s unwavering commitment to providing high-quality, equitable music education as a core component of a well-rounded student experience.

Superintendent Gary Fields says, “This recognition validates the hard work of our educators and the incredible talent of our students. Receiving this designation reinforces our efforts to ensure every student has the opportunity to find their voice through the arts.”

According to the district, BGISD is one of only six districts in Kentucky to receive this honor in 2026, joining leaders in arts education: Ashland Independent, Boyd County Schools, Jessamine County Schools, Owensboro Public Schools and Paducah Independent Schools.

The 2026 BCME Awards were granted based on a comprehensive review of several key factors including funding and facilities, instructional time, participation rates and community support.
