WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. – A hiker is safe thanks to the efforts of rescue crews in Wolfe County.

According to Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team, around 1 p.m. Wednesday, search and rescue received a 911 call for a female hiker who sustained a leg injury on Rock Bridge while hiking with her husband and daughter.

Rescuers say nine team members answered the call and hiked to her location.

EMT assessed the patient, determining she had sustained a knee injury and needed to be carried, according to rescuers.

The team then carried her on top of Rock Bridge, got her down to the trail and carried her three-fourths of a mile to the trailhead.

Rescuers say she was then placed into the family’s personal vehicle and taken to a hospital for care.
