Logan County receives over $100,000 in funding for agricultural projects

LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – The Kentucky Agricultural Development Board says it has approved just over $1 million for agricultural projects, with nearly $100,000 of that funding heading to Logan County.

According to a release Friday by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, the types of projects being awarded funding across the state include county and state funded projects, the county agricultural incentives program, deceased farm animal removal, the next generation farmer program, the shared-use equipment program and the youth agricultural incentives program.

Officials say Logan County will receive the following funding:

  • $48,980 for the county agricultural incentives program
  • $27,000 for the shared-use equipment program
  • $51,720 for the youth agricultural incentives program

The youth agriculture incentives program encourages youth to engage in and explore agricultural opportunities, while the county agricultural incentives program provides Kentucky farmers with cost-share assistance on practices to allow them to improve and add variety to their current farm operations, officials say.

In addition, officials say Elkton Fire Department received approval for up to $39,500 in multi-county funding to purchase grain rescue equipment to use for grain entrapment emergencies.

The remaining funding was allocated to Estill County, Garrard County, Henry County, Madison County, Bluegrass Flow Co. and Oldham County, according to the release.

All application periods and deadlines for CAIP, NextGen, and YAIP will be advertised locally, according to officials.
