Empty Bowls provides for food pantries in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Saint James United Methodist, Broadway United Methodist, First Christian and State Street Baptist Churches have all come together to host a night to raise money for food pantries in Bowling Green.

Empty Bowls offers attendees a chance to purchase a bowl made by local residents, whether from pottery classes with the Warren County Public Library or on their own.

Proceeds from the fundraiser are going towards the First Christian Church food pantry, along with the Synergy Center at Warren County Public Schools.

Organizers do this event for two reasons: to get food to the communities that need them and to let the community know about the problem.

“Well, you can’t fix a problem if you don’t know it’s there. We hope to raise awareness of the hunger problem in our community, and it’s really across the whole country,” organizer Garry Taylor says.

He adds there are about one in seven families in our area that don’t know where their next meal is coming from.
