Family Enrichment Center’s 30th annual 5k walk and run
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Family Enrichment Center is hosting the 30th annual 5 run and walk for children at Ephraim White Park.
The event also kicks off Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Unfortunately, Kentucky ranks fourth in the number of child abuse substantiations. That’s almost double the national rate.
Over 30 percent of those children are four, so the ultimate goal is to spread awareness.
Jennifer Bryant, director of development at the Family Enrichment Center, says, “There are too many children in foster care in Kentucky waiting to be adopted. So it’s these kinds of things that we want the community to know as we go into child abuse prevention month and work hard on our run and want for children. We want families to come out and run or walk together. Teaching children the importance of community service, in my opinion, is one of the most important things we can do as parents.”
There will be a free glow run for kids and free pasta on Friday, March 27. The 5k run and walk will be on march 28th. For more details on the 5k or to volunteer, visit their website.
