GLASGOW, Ky. – One man is behind bars on multiple charges in Glasgow.

According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police responded to a home on Bristletown Road in Barren County Sunday night for a possible burglary in progress.

Authorities say the caller stated a male was trying to enter the residence by kicking in the door.

Troopers say upon arrival, they made contact with a male in the front yard, identified as 42-year-old Matthew Martin of Elizabethtown.

Authorities say Martin refused verbal orders to place his hands on the hood of the trooper’s cruiser.

According to the citation, the trooper then was able to take hold of Martin’s arms and detain him.

Authorities say the caller stated he had heard someone attempting to kick the door and beating on the windows in a way that appeared to try to gain access into the home.

Troopers say Martin smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages and was “irate” during the entire event.

Martin was arrested and transported to the Barren County Detention Center.

He faces charges of first-degree criminal trespassing, menacing, second-degree criminal mischief and alcohol intoxication in a public place, first and second offense.
