City of Bowling Green asks citizens to call Public Works for pothole fixes
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The City of Bowling Green Public Works Department is working to repair potholes across town following the recent ice storm.
So far, crews have fixed 41 potholes. If you spot one in your neighborhood, you can report it by calling 270-393-3363.
Keep in mind, the city can only repair roads it maintains.
Private property, like the parking lot at Greenwood Mall, is not included.
Public works says once a report comes in, crews typically respond within about an hour to make a temporary repair.
Officials say they’d like to make more permanent fixes, but with costs rising, that’ll require additional funding.
“We have $2 million in tax money and liquid fuel tax to do that short-term fix… long-term fix is that $2 million program I talked about. With the cost going up around the world right now, we’re only getting about 9 to 10 miles with that $2 million. So we have to strategically pick where we’re going to resurface. But this patch should last us hopefully six months at least. Given weather conditions and traffic, you can see it’s already being driven on, but please let us know. We like serving the public, and we love our citizens in Bowling Green,” said Andy Souza, Bowling Green’s Public Works director.
He says any time you see a pothole or anything that could be a safety hazard for drivers, give Public Works a call and they’ll get out to the site as fast as they can.
