TRENTON, Ky. – Todd County residents can now turn their heat back on, according to Todd County Emergency Management. In addition, emergency officials say the shelter-in-place order has been lifted.

UPDATE 10:11 a.m.: 

TRENTON, Ky. – A shelter-in-place order is still active after a train derailment in Todd County on Tuesday morning.

News 40 crews on scene have confirmed residents in the area have been told to turn heat off so that outside air is not blown in. This is due to a spill after the train was carrying molten sulfur.

First responders received a call about the derailment at 6:22 a.m.

The Todd County Sheriff’s Office has stated that any Trenton or Todd County residents displaced due to the derailment can seek shelter at the Tiny Town Bingo in Guthrie. This is located at 10020 Russellville Road in Guthrie.

According to WEKT Radio, the derailment occurred near Kentucky 476 and Tress Shop Road in Trenton.

U.S. 41 between Pembroke and Trenton is shut down. according to WEKT.

Responding officials are currently putting dirt onto the spill to contain it, according to News 40 crews.

TRENTON, Ky. – A train derailment in Todd County has closed a roadway.

WEKT Radio reports that a train derailed near Kentucky 476 and Tress Shop Road in Trenton on Tuesday morning.

Emergency officials told WEKT that at least 20 train cars derailed and the road is expected to be closed for an indefinite period.

Crews are currently working to clear the scene. The train cars were carrying molten sulfur.

U.S. 41 between Pembroke and Trenton is shut down, according to the report.

Hopkinsville hazmat crews are assisting at the scene.

WEKT spoke with Todd County Emergency Management officials who say a shelter-in-place has been issued for Trenton residents.

Trenton residents have been asked to turn off home air conditioning systems.

No injuries have been reported.
