LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A Louisville man is behind bars after an alleged altercation involving a snack.

According to a uniform citation, the Louisville Metro Police Department received a call shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday regarding a patient with a gunshot wound at a local hospital.

Authorities say during an interview with the victim, police were told a family member had left the home and observed 57-year-old Kenneth Beals of Louisville eating a snack that had been bought for the family member’s children.

The victim then attempted to enter the home while Beals was leaving, according to the citation.

Police say the victim stated she confronted Beals about the snack and that Beals stated, “Yes, I ate your snack, and it was good” before firing a shot that hit the victim’s arm.

Police say the shot caused a non life-threatening injury.

Authorities say the victim and witnesses positively identified Beals as the suspect.

Beals was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
