Chaney’s Dairy Barn welcomes a baby calf on Christmas Day
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Chaney’s Dairy Barn received a special Christmas present as a baby calf was born Thursday morning.
When Carl Chaney, dairy farmer at Chaney’s Dairy Barn, arrived early Thursday morning, one of the cows that was two days overdue began to go into labor.
After checking on her periodically, she eventually gave birth and gave the barn an extra special Christmas present.
The new calf received a name that not only has a Christmas theme to it but goes along with the names in the rest of her family.
“Mary Christmas.” Chaney said. “We need to name her Mary because her momma’s name is Mona. Our grand mama’s name is Molly, and her great grand mama’s name is mouth. So to keep the ‘M’ letters going, Mary Christmas is just. Just perfect. So it can be ‘Mary’ for ‘Merry Christmas.’ Me, Mary, mother of Jesus.”
Mary has received a lot of love from the community already. The Facebook post that announced her arrival has received over 2,000 likes already.
Though she is only 24 hours old, Mary is already up moving around.
