HIVE Christmas party brings many together in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Laughter, music and holiday cheer filled The HIVE on Tuesday as members and their families gathered for the organization’s annual Christmas party.
The HIVE Society exclusive event featured a potluck meal, a gift exchange and seasonal karaoke, giving kids and families a chance to celebrate in a welcoming, judgment-free environment.
Kaiden Guckenberger said the party gave kids on the autism spectrum an opportunity to connect with others like them while enjoying the holiday spirit.
“Well, this is fun,” Guckenberger said. “I’d just say it’s like a Christmas get-together and stuff. Like, every kid on the spectrum get to hang out with other kids on the spectrum and hang out and open presents and stuff.”
The event has been a tradition since The HIVE opened in 2017, growing larger each year as more families become involved.
Laura Orsland, executive director of The HIVE, said this year’s celebration may have been the biggest yet.
“It is our annual Christmas party, and we have joyful chaos going on right now,” Orsland said. “I think this is the biggest crowd we’ve ever had.”
Organizers say the party is about more than holiday fun, it’s about building community and providing a space where kids and families feel supported. As the organization continues to grow, leaders say events like the Christmas party remain at the heart of The HIVE’s mission.
