Gov. Andy Beshear names Rebecca Simpson as next Edmonson/Warren family court judge

FRANKFORT, Ky. – A new family court judge has been selected to serve Edmonson and Warren counties.

Rebecca Adams Simpson has been selected by Gov. Andy Beshear to be the next family court judge.

The vacancy opened up when Judge David A. Lanphear announced his retirement effective September 30, 2025.

Family court judges manage legal cases impacting a family, including divorce, custody, support, adoption, paternity, domestic violence and child abuse. In this particular position, Simpson will manage these cases in Edmonson and Warren counties.

The three nominees for the judgeship were attorneys James Richard Downey, Ashlea Shepherd Porter and Rebecca Adams Simpson, all of Bowling Green, according to Kentucky.gov.
