BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Changes are coming to the hill.

According to a release, the WKU Board of Regents approved a pre-development agreement with Gilbane, a construction and real estate development firm, to begin the first phase of modernizing student housing.

WKU says its partnership with Gilbane aims to provide affordable facilities and replace aging infrastructure.

The release states that project approval is expected to be in late spring or Summer 2026.

The first phase will replace Hugh Poland and Douglas Keen Halls.

The project will include a 1,000-bed residential complex featuring suite-style options, community kitchens, collaborative lounges, expanded Living Learning Community spaces, technology-enabled learning environments, and enhanced safety and accessibility features, according to the release.

Construction is expected to be completed before the Fall 2028 semester.

The release states that the board approved leasing Campus Flats, located at 1909 Creason Street, for two years.
