T.J. Samson Hospital Unveils Upgraded NICU for Southcentral Kentucky Families

GLASGOW, Ky. (WNKY) – T.J. Samson Community Hospital celebrated the grand reopening of its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on Monday afternoon, marking a major investment in advanced newborn care for families across the region.

Hospital leaders, staff, and community members gathered to tour the newly renovated space, which features the latest medical technology, expanded capacity, and a family-centered design. The project aims to keep families close to home while providing high-level care for the most vulnerable newborns.

“This space allows more privacy for our families, which helps promote bonding and breastfeeding, something we really focus on in this unit,” said Megan Ritchie, Director of Women and Newborn Care. “Being able to provide that to our patients is going to be huge.”

The renovation was funded in part through Children’s Day, a program of the T.J. Community Mission Foundation, which serves as the foundation’s pediatric health platform. The event also honored Dr. Bharat Mody and Dr. Bharati Mody, who founded Children’s Day and have long supported the hospital’s mission.

“This is the mission we had in mind for some time, helping our newborn babies have a new home,” said Dr. Mody. “We’re so thankful for everyone who helped make this happen, and we’re excited for the families who will be cared for here.”

Hospital officials said the NICU will begin caring for patients later this week. The updated facility ensures that families in Southcentral Kentucky can access critical neonatal care without traveling far from home.
