(CNN, WGCL) – A fast-food chain is planning to close hundreds of its restaurants.

The interim CEO of Wendy’s announced a percentage estimate amount, which would equate to about 200 to 350 closures of the chain’s 6,000 U.S. locations.

He told analysts these are “consistently underperforming” locations that are dragging down the chain’s overall performance.

The closures will start soon and continue through next year.

A specific list of locations was not announced.

This announcement comes a year after Wendy’s announced the closing of 140 locations, citing similar underperformance issues.

Wendy’s just had a quarter that saw sales fall off by nearly 5%.

Some of its rivals, including McDonald’s and Burger King, had positive earnings.

News 40 has confirmed this will not impact Bowling Green Wendy’s locations.
