2 indicted in alleged fraudulent use of Green County Fire Department funds

GREENSBURG, Ky. – Two people are facing charges following an alleged theft case from the Green County Fire Department.
According to the Greensburg Police Department, officers arrested Joshua Gupton and Amelia “Brooke” Gupton on Thursday on charges stemming from the case.
Joshua Gupton is charged with theft by unlawful taking all others between $10,000 and $1,000,000, fraudulent use of a credit or debit card over $10,000, abuse of public trust (less than $10,000 but over $100,000) and first-degree official misconduct.
Amelia Gupton is charged with theft by unlawful taking all others between $10,000 and $1,000,000 and fraudulent use of a credit or debit card over $10,000.
The arrests follow an extensive investigation conducted by detective A Regan with Greenburg police that resulted in an indictment warrant being issued.
Authorities say the investigation began on December 19, 2024, when GPD received a complaint from the current chief and treasurer of the Green County Fire Department.
Following the installation of newly elected officers, authorities say discrepancies were found in the department’s financial records, leading officers to contact GPD for a review.
Police say it was determined that over a period of nearly eight years that Joshua and Amelia Gupton allegedly misused the fire department’s funds to pay personal expenses and made unauthorized transactions using department bank cards and accounts.
The total amount of fraudulent transactions is estimated to surpass $55,000, police say.
The Green County Fire Department has been fully cooperative and provided assistance throughout the investigation, according to police.
