Franklin Police Department hosting Cram the Cruiser coat drive
FRANKLIN, Ky. – One local law enforcement agency is fighting the cold with its annual coat drive.
On Monday, the Franklin Police Department kicked off its second annual “Cram the Cruiser” coat drive. From Oct. 27 until Nov. 21, the police department will be accepting coats for those in the community in need.
As the temperatures drop and the winter months approach, there will be more of a need for coats for people in the area.
The Franklin Police Department is asking for donations of all sizes, ranging from adult to kids coats, over the course of the next month.
This is the second time the police department is holding the event, with last year being quite the success. So much so that they needed to get a bigger vehicle this year in anticipation of the amount of coats they will receive.
“Last year, the cruiser that we had out front was fully stuffed. I don’t think you could fit another coat in there,” said John Thompson, major at the Franklin Police Department. “We have upgraded to an SUV this year. The SUV will be parked right outside our police department next to the flag flagpoles, and it will be available 24 hours a day until the 21st of November.”
The SUV will be open for donations at the Franklin Police Department at 501 W. Madison St. at all times until Nov. 21.
