2 charged with unlawful imprisonment in Hopkinsville

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – Two men are charged with unlawful imprisonment after allegedly transporting a man from Clarksville to Hopkinsville.
According to a uniform citation, the Hopkinsville Police Department received a call on Oct. 24 regarding a possible kidnapping.
Authorities say the caller stated a male was being unlawfully restrained in a moving vehicle with two unknown male subjects who were attempting to cash fraudulent checks.
Police say they made contact with one male subject, identified as 66-year-old Michael Broadnax of Atlanta, Georgia.
According to a report by WKDZ Radio, authorities stated that he and his nephew, Rodriguez Fillmore, 35, the driver, picked up the victim at a Hooter’s parking lot in Clarksville. According to the citation, Broadnax further stated the victim “voluntarily got in the vehicle” before they began driving.
Authorities say the victim stated Broadnax had approached him and offered a way for him to get “quick cash.” The citation states the victim was told he would be cashing a check that the other two subjects were unable to cash, and in return, he would receive a partial cut of the cash.
When he found out he was traveling to Christian County, police say the victim stated he made it known he did not want to continue to help. However, authorities say they kept traveling.
Broadnax was arrested on charges of drug paraphernalia – buy/possess and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.
Fillmore was arrested on charges of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.
