VERSAILLES, Ky. (WKYT) – A family impacted by a case is sharing their reaction after a recently released Kentucky inmate is back behind bars in Florida.
WKYT reports it has been one week since its team spoke to Dean Tipton, the father of Logan Tipton, a child whose death has been connected to the Ronald Exantus case.
A former report by WKYT stated the family said Exantus entered their home and attacked them in December 2015, an event tied to the death of Logan Tipton.
Exantus was released from prison recently due to state law.
However, the family connected to his Kentucky case is now breathing a sigh of relief after he is back behind bars.
Dean Tipton said, “I’m extremely surprised by it, but I’m so glad Florida was on the ball.”
He said he thought Exantus would have tried abiding by the law after just being released after spending almost a decade in prison.
The tragic death of Logan Tipton has had renewed attention in the days since the announcement of Exantus’ release. In addition, after inaccurate details were shared on the release of Exantus, threats have been reported against the Kentucky Parole Board, a situation that now has FBI involvement.
On Saturday, Oct. 4, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on X the White House is “looking into” the Exantus case.
However, five days later, the family says they have yet to hear from anyone.
Dean Tipton said, “You know, you say you’re investigating this, come talk to the family. Find out what this family has been through. If you want to investigate it and find out what really happened, come talk to us. We are open…we want to hear from you. We want to tell you our story.”
The family also states it is let down that it has yet to hear from the governor’s office as of Friday, Oct. 10.
Hours before WKYT’s interview with the family, the station reports Gov. Andy Beshear stated he was willing to work with the state legislature to change the law that required Exantus’ release.
The family is now calling on the Kentucky legislature to take action.
They are asking legislators to pass Logan’s Law to supersede the law that allowed Exantus to be released. In addition, the Tipton’s say they are calling upon President Donald Trump to help get justice for their son.
Heather Tipton, Logan’s mother, said, “Please help us. This has been a long 10 years. A lot that I don’t think was done right.”
Going forward, the family says it remains hopeful that one day, Logan Tipton will get the justice he deserves.
