Kentucky author Silas House to discuss 2 new books at The Capitol

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Warren County Public Library will hose award-winning author Silas House at the Capitol on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m.

According to the library, House will discuss his two new books, “All These Ghosts” and “Dead Man Blues.”

Free copies of the books will be given away to those who attend, while supplies last.

House is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of eight novels, including “Clay’s Quilt,” “A Parchment of Leaves,” “The Coal Tattoo,” “Eli the Good,” “Southernmost” and “Lark Ascending.”

In addition to fiction, he has co-authored a book of creative nonfiction, “Something’s Rising,” written four plays and is the author of the newly released poetry collection “All These Ghosts.”

Writing under the pseudonym S.D. House, he also debuts his first murder mystery, “Dead Man Blues, in 2025.

A major voice in southern and Appalachian literature, House served as Kentucky’s poet laureate from 2023 to 2025.

In 2024, he became a Grammy finalist for his work as writer, producer, and creative director of the Tyler Childers video “In Your Love,” which made history as the first country music video to feature a love story between two men.

House’s essays and journalism have appeared in Time, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The Advocate, Garden & Gun and The Bitter Southerner. He is the recipient of numerous honors, including the Duggins Prize (2022), Southern Book of the Year (2023), and an invitation to read at the Library of Congress. He is also a member of the Fellowship of Southern Writers, holds four honorary doctorates, and serves as the National Endowment for the Humanities Chair at Berea College.
