BGPD hosts open house, looking for recruits for Law Enforcement Academy

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department held a recruitment open house at their headquarters in downtown Bowling Green, as they look to bolster the force for the next class of the Law Enforcement Academy.

“It’s an opportunity for people that are maybe interested in becoming a police officer or people that just want to know more about what the police do to come out and check out what we do here. We have representatives from all of our special assignments they can speak with. They can see equipment demonstrations. They can check out our vehicles and ask questions about the hiring process,” Recruitment Sergeant Brad Hogue with the BGPD says.

Not only is this a chance for people to see what goes on inside the police department, it also is an opportunity for the department itself to recruit new officers for the Bowling Green Law Enforcement Academy.

“We are very blessed here in Bowling Green in that we actually, on paper, are fully staffed, but we’re in a position that we are looking to grow. Our community’s growing and our police department needs to grow with it. So we’re looking for the best people possible to place in our next police academy class,” Hogue says.

The afternoon included a tour of the station and learning about what each section of the police department does, as families were able to check out all the equipment that the officers use daily. But on December 4th, they’ll hold another open house at their brand new training facility on Porter Pike.
