LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – A uniquely designed duplex home in Lexington is in new hands.

The quirky Mount Tabor home has been there since the ’80s, yet rapid fire home buyers decided to pull the trigger, buying the property Thursday.

Salesman Andy Klunder says, “Anybody who’s ever driven down this side of Lexington has seen this house.”

Klunder says something about the home sticks out.

“It’s kind of known as the spaceship house here in the south side,” he says. “So, like I said, it’s kind of a landmark. It’s just something that everybody recognizes.”

Because of that popularity, Klunder decided to flip the house one day later.

He sold it for $170,000.

He says, “Soon as I put it out, my phone was blowing up. I mean, literally, in under a minute, I had someone say, ‘I’ll take it.'”

Within 10 minutes, he had five offers.

The property includes a two bedroom apartment on the top floor and a one bedroom apartment on the bottom floor.

The new owner is the CEO of Rapid-Fire Home Buyers. He plans on fixing up the units so they can be rented out.

Klunder says, “Not everybody can afford the luxury price points. A lot of those are coming out, especially the new homes being built and the higher price points, so this is a big need here in Lexington.”

The home will reportedly be kept exactly the same as it is, however, it will be freshened up without changing the style or look of it.

Who knows? Once the duplex gets a facelift, maybe you could be living in the most noticeable house on the block.
