(NBC) – On Monday night, NBC’s “Survival Mode” is giving viewers a look into the multi-day rainfall event that hit eastern Kentucky in July 2022.

The series, from the producers of Dateline, shows viewers a weekly inside look at some of the most devastating disasters from those who lived through them.

Tonight’s episode looks at what has been widely referred to as the “thousand year flood.”

The flooding impacted 14 counties, displaced thousands and resulted in the deaths of more than 40 people. It is considered the deadliest natural disaster to hit eastern Kentucky in over 80 years.

Viewers can see the episode tonight, Aug. 18 at 10 p.m. Eastern Time/9 p.m. Central Time.
